I'm 99% sure this is from a B body. The dipstick is 18 3/16" long. The tube is 18 1/8" long.

EDIT: It is from my '66 Satellite. Had to replace it with a locking dipstick, to pass tech.

Cleared out my inbox. I have a few 727 dipsticks and tubes. I think the tubes might be for a small block, but I think the dipsticks are the same length?

        Hi from germany :)
I have the same problem as Roger, I need a dipstick for an 904 transmission.
Or just the lenght from the tip to the tube cover. And the lenght of the measuring range of the dipstick.

My car is a 1975 Plymouth Fury Custom Sedan with the 318 motor.

        Thanks

Not sure but I think there MAY be a difference in the small block sticks depending on which vehicle the trans came out of. I think my van 727's had a different one than the car versions, but not certain. The B & C body ones seemed the same.

Have you called A&A transmission in Indiana??.... I thought they still had a selection... and I'd bet they can point you in the right direction with the needed dimensions.

              Hi Lefty71,
i´ll try to ask at A&A.
My plan is to make the dipstick by my own. It´s hard to get those small parts in germany.

              Thanks

Well, all that really matters is the location of the full mark in relation to the bottom of the housing tube..... that will show the level and should be universal across the board for any 904 or 727, regardless of modifications like pan depth..... I'll try to get a pic and post it up.

727 Add mark pic2.jpg 727 Dipstick protrudes.jpg 727 full mark pic.jpg So, my pix aren't the greatest by any means, but the important info is sound, which is the "ADD" mark is 1.2" up from the bottom of the dipstick. The "FULL" mark is 1.8" up from the bottom of the stick. Important to note, the stick protrudes down below the tube housing .5", so this number needs to be deducted if you are measuring up the housing tube to create your own homemade dipstick..... So, to clarify, when the trans needs one pint added, the fluid is .7" up the housing tube, and when it's full of fluid to MAX, the fluid is 1.3" up from the bottom of the housing. I used factory parts to take these measurements, and i verified them by comparing to other factory tubes and sticks different vintages to make sure the marks were in the same place. Please note an early bolt in tube housing may produce different measurements, but the dipstick should still be the same.
