I am doing a complete restoration on my 74 RR. Brake calipers were replaced new a year ago and already look like crap. Car has been stored indoors and they are still rusty looking. Does anybody make a powder coated caliber I could just bolt on? Seems like everything out there stops at 72. I had a hard time finding the stock calipers last year as well. The ones that everyone listed as fitting my 74, didn’t fit. I can’t remember if they were slide on or bolt on but I eventually found the right ones with a little help from my friends. My car is not here to look at so I can’t tell you if they are bolt on or slide on right now, but I basically just want to replace the calipers for cosmetic reasons more than performance, but hey if I could find a complete performance kit with drilled rotors and powder coated calipers that would be great. I’ve searched the forums here and haven’t found any help for 73/74. I’m not wanting to disassemble the calipers to powder coat them either. I would rather just buy a caliper off the shelf that I could bolt up.

I got new calipers from rockauto for my 73 when I did a DOT 5 conversion.
They worked just fine (10 years and going) but they did not match. The castings were quite a bit different, although they were the same part number from the same supplier.
They should be pin type.
I painted mine before installation with black VHT "caliper paint", and that seems to be holding up.

So you didn’t disassemble them before painting?

I masked the line connection and the piston/seal.
I can't remember if I removed the rubber from the "pin" hole areas.
Thanks I’ll keep that as an option but my first choice would be powder coated.

IIRC the VHT caliper paint is ceramic.

They also have a special primer for it.
Can't remember if I used that or not.
