73-74 Dodge Bumper Reinforcement Removal

Anyone ever remove the reinforcements behind the bumpers on a Charger or Coronet? Front/Rear/Wagon Rear?

Is it a pain and/or worth it? Worthwhile weight savings? Any experiences out there/

took most of mine out. I had a wreck in a 73 charger in 82 they did nothing to save my front end at all. I run one set of brackets per side with the upper straps that's it and I have no movement.

I left mine off the rear of my Road Runner when I changed the bumper. It was just a nasty, rusted, heavy, chunk of steel, so I left it off and haven't had any issues.

Thanks for the responses. Did removing the reinforcement shift the position of the bumper and/or change the gap to the body?

Maybe by an eighth of an inch or so. I like the gap for my rear bumper as it helps me see where the filler neck is without having to bend down to see it.
