I placed a "parts wanted" ad for this pulley a few weeks ago and couldn't find the one I was looking for (p/n 3698917) so I looked for a reproduction of it. I believe I found this model pulley new from Classic Industries so I ordered it. They have it listed as MD2379 and it also has BPE 4016 on the bag it came in. It looks to have the same dimensions as the original one that was mentioned in my "parts wanted" post. This pulley was VERY EXPENSIVE! I paid over $86 with shipping for it which I think is outrageous, but I guess when you're desperate you give in and do outrageous things.
Other than that this pulley has a rough flat black finish which looks to be powder coating. I don't much care for this finish even though I'm sure it's very durable. I would much rather it be semi-gloss black instead since I think this would be more accurate originality-wise so I may try to scuff it good and paint over it.
I believe the groove on this double groove pulley opposite the mounting flange should line up with the third groove from the inside on the 4-groove crank pulley assembly as well as the power steering pump pulley (which was determined in a previous post I made on the '73 pullley arrangement (that doesn't use an idler pulley). I also believe the groove of this pulley that is adjacent to the mounting flange lines up with the 4th groove from the inside on the crank pulley assembly and is used to drive the pulley of a smog pump on cars that got smog pumps.
I just thought I'd pass along this information in case anyone else is in the predicament I was in of not having the original pulleys of an big block engine they want to put into their '73+ car or not even knowing what they should look like. Of course another option since my car doesn't have a smog pump would have been to switch to the pre-'73 pulley arrangement that uses a short single groove pulley (which are easy to find on eBay) and an idler pulley for the WP pulley adjustment (since the power steering pump pulley is driven by itself on the third from the inside groove of the crank pulley assembly) but this wouldn't be correct originality-wise for a '73+ car.
