I just bought a 73 charger project a few months ago, it needs two new quarters. But the problem is, no one makes full quarters for 73/74.

My question is, is there anyway I could get 72 full quarters to fit. Passenger side I can get away with a half quarter but the drivers side really could use a full quarter. I would really appreciate if someone could answer this for me, and if someone could explain what's involved in doing it. Also another question, I've got a set of 72 rallye doors would these fit my 73? Something is telling me the doors won't fit....

Thank you!

72s will not work, but you can get quarters from Tabco for 73/74. No dice on the doors. http://www.tabcobodyparts.com/index.html

Thank you!

Those doors should sell very well and a member here I think was looking for a set to make a casting of. The 72s are different then 73-74 doors.

Chargers 71-71 sheet metal will work.

Like someone said tobaco will be the only choice or really the best choice.

Auto Body Specialties sells the TABCO panels, at a mark up.

I was just getting ready to say that. I think I read that on the chargers board.

Does anyone know if they are in stock in where? I read they re-tooled them and it was taking some time to get them back in full stock.

I hear they are also the best on the market.

They are pretty much the only ones on the market, aside from the hand formed junkers. Anyone selling 73/74 quarters is basically just selling TABCO units. You can try rockauto.com, or call around until you get someone with them in stock.

I have a Goodmark/Sherman 73/74 partial quarter.
It has both stickers on it.
I do not think it is the Tabco part.
It is thinner sheet metal, but the lines look correct.

Don't sell those doors yet. There's no photographic evidence that they won't work.
I sure would like to setle that debate.

Maybe we can on this forum.

Interior panels are interchangeable, and I would argue that the "shell" is the same.
The "skin" is different, but it appears that the lines actually are pretty close despite that the 71/72 lines don't "connect" in the center of the door, like the 73/74 does.

I have both, and I'm willing to try them as soon as I have time.

I've seen this discussion on several forums, and no one seems to be able to produce a photo of them either fitting, or not fitting.

I've seen 72 cars where the owner states that 73/74 fenders are installed.
This suggests that at least the front lines of the door/fender do in fact, line up.

From my casual measurements, it appears that the 71/72 body line on the quarter takes a different path after it leaves the door jamb area. This produces the upturned "kick" in the body line that is present at the rear of the 73/74.

I'm also curious as to whether the end caps are interchangeable.
The appear to have the same angles, despite that aforementioned kick.

.

Photographic evidence? It's not bigfoot, the doors won't work. He could graft in the forward section of the door skin onto a pair of 73-74 doors if he wishes, but there is no real debate here, the doors don't fit.

This is where the lines don't match up. About 3/4" off. Yes the doors fit and work.
End caps are the same 71-4

They don't really fit if the body line is 3/4 of an inch off, do they then...

I mean you can instlll them and they work. Open , close, latch ,ect. Correct? No. Fit right? No. Would I do it? No.

Well that's the best decription I've seen yet.

Leave it to this board to have the best quality communication.

The upper door panels are not interchangable, but the bottoms are the same for all 4 years.

Thanks for all of the responses guys. I got the piece I need from another charger and I'm going to put two new half quarters on.

There is a big difference between the 72 doors, I tried them on last night.
