I just picked up a 73 Charger last week. The charging system is not working. It has a new voltage regulator and alternator. It has a 1978 440 in it currently. Where else should I be looking? I haven't really done any diagnosing with it.

Also, the carburetor that it has seems to need a choke cable. If you see where my thumb is in the picture, it looks like one would connect here. It won't really idle when cold unless I set that by hand.

This is my first time working with an old Mopar. I'm coming from working on 80s Shelby Chargers and old aircooled VWs. Any help would be much appreciated!

Nice car. Do you have a factory service manual. Even with the swapped engine, I would think it would come in handy for troubleshooting. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about charging systems to help with that. And yes it does look like a manual choke. I ran a manual choke in the 1980's and cable through the firewall.
