I finished the grill install with the new head light extension fillers, well they fit the grill good, but the end that surrounds the head light and stainless ring it will not go around that, it fits just in front of the head lamps covering part of the bottom of the ring. It does not go around the trim for the head lamp retainer. The grill does sit against the nylon mounting for the screws that hold the grill they mad them a little shorter than the original extensions. however they look good and have a shiny coating like the originals I saw on a untouched 74 Charger with low miles. These days its all a compromise with some reproduction parts.
not as flexible they need to be deeper for sure about 1/4 inch or so. I will try a heat gun to warm them and stretch around the ring and may be extend the head light steel enclosure out ward with some steel washers, maybe the head light adjusters can be adjusted out ward it may be worth the effort to try that first. evenly since they are already aimed correctly.
hey Nacho, how are you? OK last night I spent another 2hrs adjusting the brackets out ward so the damn things would screw in flush to the mounting holes. More time on these darn grills, the opening for the shield is too small it will not fit around the SS ring for the head lamp. Originals are larger by at least .25 inches. Today after work I will try to heat the whole thing full assembly in 120 deg F in a bucket of water with a thermometer and see if it will stretch. It was only 42 F in the garage here in Massachusettes yesterday. The only positive thing on these new parts is is at least they fit the grill with out any warping like my originals, look nice too except the fit. I was looking at photos from the 1987 era, they looked good, I forgot when they went down hill and warped maybe about 10years ago. After this I will post pictures of my results.
It seem I'll be passing by now. To have "not too soft" "urethane" > ( per CI description ) pieces and with an incorrect fitting anywhere I still can live with my used hardened ones which are still fit on grills ( while they are kept on grilles )
