Should the lower radiator hose have a metal spring in it on a 1973 RR with a 400 and A/C? Also, what's the best way to get leverage on the alternator to tighten up the A/C - alternator belts?
I have a 73 Satty, the bottom does not have one in it, the top does... Usually if one is ca-lapsing its a sign of something wrong, which could be just a old hose that needs replaced.. Mine a SB also.. Hope this helps..
lower hose is the suction hose and should be the only hose to colapse.that being said,it shouldnt and dosnt need a spring inside(wouldnt hurt if you have one inside the hose)as far as the alt,try to pull it with your hands(under the alt).belt should have about 1/2 inch of movement on the longest run.best way is with two people, one to pull tight, one to tighten bolts.
