73 RR power bulge hood insulation ?

Yes, there is such a thing, and there are two types, molded and unmolded.

Here is what the molded one looks like on my 73 RR hood.

I would recommend the molded one, available for about $90 from classic industries, year one, dantesparts etc. The non molded ones are around 35 bucks, available at most major parts places.

So that is on the bulge hood correct ?

IIRC, it's the same as the one for a flat hood, as the braces in the bulge hood are much thicker and but the mount holes for the pad in the same place.

Kinda sucks that it pretty much nullifies any additional clearance that the bulge would have given.

My RR hood was too thin and crusty to do a proper refurb on, so i just stopped the rust as best I could.
The top side looks pretty presentable, but the sides are thin and the bottom is very pitted.
I did cut out that large brace to see what effect it would have since I was less concerned about potential disaster.

It looks like I do have some additional clearance (I also radiused the area around the rear mount hole).
However, it seems to shake up and down a bit more, but that might be due to another problem it has- some one hogged out the hinge hols and now they take a 3/8 bolt instead of a 5/16, and the hood sits up above the spring centering devices at the rear.

Wow, didn't realize I was rambling in a borderline off-topic area........
