I just pulled the old headers off my big block (383)74 Roadrunner with 4 speed. Had an old set of cheap headers. Maybe flowtechs. only ID was a stamp that said 10-200 R and L respectivly. Actually came off rather easily other than removing starter, center link, and jacking up engine.

Any one have a suggestion on brand? Looking at Headman elites 78038 with thermal coating. but the passenger side is totally different from my old ones. My old ones look more like Hooker #5903 HKR difference being on the passenger side.

Would like to stay under $400. if possible. Weekend Cruiser not strip.

I would certainly appreciate any feedback. Thanks

Well, from everything I read, TTI headers seem to be the most desirable, but are way over your $400. I just bought a set of Hedman big block 78030s for my '73. I plan on getting them jet coated myself. Summit has them for $169.95 but I got mine off eBay new in the box.

Have you checked the fitment yet? Just worried about clutch linkage, power steering, and center link clearance. Maybe just worried too much.. looking over installation instructions. That's why I guess so many question.. Not much info on these 73-74 B Bodies.. Let me know when you get them in..thanks

I have read where some had to dent a little to clear the power steering box and some did not. That is why I didn't want pre-coated. Better to ding it and then have coated so it won't be as obvious or look butchered. Right now my '73 has large tube(2 1/4") Hooker racing headers(straight collector welded to exhaust pipe, no 3 bolt collector) and there are no dings for clearance. They are just too much for a street only car.

headers

I have a 73 Charger. Was a 318 then dropped in a 383. I got Hedman headers and they fit really tight. I did have to dent them in for clearance for the steering linkage/column. I also have a mini starter and they rub on it as well. Schumacher makes a block hugger style which i am told works great. Just bought them we shall see.....Let ya know in a couple of weeks or so!!
