I bought my RR 2 years ago. 47000 original miles. 318 with 340 heads, edelbrock LD4B manifold, mild cam, headers, automatic with a shift kit, stall converter, had 4.10's now has 3.23 gears. everything else stock. When I bought it it had a dual feed Holley 750 that was wore out. I bought a edelbrock 1406 600 cfm. Its been a pain since I've had it. Now I can't go more than a mile and it quits. Then it won't start. Move the carb linkage a few times and it starts and goes another mile or so. Then repeat. Idles great but I just can't go anywhere with it. I want to take the edelbrock and pitch it. My question is what to replace it with? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Holley or quadrajet all day, holleys can be a bit fussy sometimes but I swear by them

Agreed. I sware by a tried and true Holley. Why you considered a Eddy is beyond me. Pitch it and get a 650 holley with manual secondarys and youll be happy you did

Thanks. I'm gonna look at a Holley 600 or 650 with manual choke. Don't know about the manual secondaries but I'll look into it too.

your accelerator pump is probably on the out... sounds like a fuel starvation problem... have you checked your used fuel filters for contaminates? you maybe getting blockage (new gas tank or old?) in the fuel lines and has now clogged up your jets in the carburetor. Eddy's are reliable, relatively maintenance free carburetors, but they do NOT produce HP like holley's et al.

Bought a Holley 600 with vacumn secondaries & manual choke. I'm going to give this a try and see how it goes. I'm going to check out the edelbrock and see if has anything in the jets and check the accelerator pump but I think the Holley will work.
Thanks for the suggestions.
