My Plymouth has a 81/4 rearend and I now have a second one that I could modify and then make a quick swap into my car. My question is: Are there disc brake kits available? I have a sure-grip for it and I would like to update to 3:55 gears. I dont plan to add a lot of power in front of it so I think itll hold up to whatever mild abuse I can give it.

Thanks for any help.

what kind of car? Duster?

If you have disc up front, that will work since most of your braking is done there. Disc are great all around, but not really a necessary.

www.p-s-t.com has kits available. 8 3/4 and 8 1/4 use the same axle flange so the kit will bolt up the same.

disc brakes all around are cool and would be a nice upgrade since our cars are pretty heavy.

Its the more-than-I-need theory. Mostly a cosmetic upgrade. Ive used circle track stuff in the past but would like a Wilwood style setup.

Its a 73 satellelite. It has late model 20" Dodge Challenger wheels.( on a side note I was very hesitent to use these but I got a good deal on them and they fit and they actually look sharp.) The brakes a VERY visible!!

Good to know on the housing flange. Should make finding a set much easier. Appreciate the link.

Thanks

As long as it's more 'want' than 'need', you're good, because the stock drums in the rear (if in proper condition) will be more than enough for the car.

If you do swap the rear to disk, invest in an adjustable proportioning valve. Otherwise, you run the risk of seeing the back end ALOT on hard braking (but if you circle-track race, you may want, lol).
