Quick question why does the FSM say to measure end play on the left (driver's) side while the adjuster is on the right (passenger's) side?

Even the video referenced in threads here have them measuring (dial indicator) on the same side as the adjuster.

What am I missing? Can I measure on the adjuster (right) side? Seems easier more logical, but I'm not the expert.

Thanks
Ross

I believe it was illustrated that way to make sure the technician doing the job had both drums off. You can't get proper readings with the drums on. Also makes sense that the dial indicator can be set up and undisturbed on the left while making adjustments on the right. I have measured on either side.

But it feels like the adjuster side has a lot more endplay than the left

Smack it back and forth ... who cares which side.
So it should have similar end play on both sides? It feels like the adjuster side is easier to move and drivers side doesn't move as much
