This a known "idea" to reinforce the housing or someone grenaded a ring gear or cone in this thing in years past and repaired it.... and maybe why the line lock solenoid has been disconnected .. LOL

Yes.. maybe why it has a Yukon Nodular Iron unit in it now!

I'd be curious to see inside if it was mine. But not enough to take it apart for no reason.

Don't worry, it's all coming apart shortly. Figure they cracked (or wore a grove in) the case with the OE 3.23 flying apart or similar. Why there's a 3.55 Yukon unit in it now. I'll get it all apart, have a good boo at it and proceed from there. Might have to do some body work before paint! lol
