8 3/4 need help

I bought a 8 3/4 about 4 years ago, had it power coated and let it sit. But finally started putting it back together and I noticed the perches where moved and have gaps at the top which fit on my 72 satellite great but whoever welded it didn’t weld it all the way up. I was wondering if it’s good enough and that the u bolts will hold it together or should I get it welded the rest of the way?

I see super stock springs, so im going to assume some power. I would put a strap over the top of the housing, and tie in the front and rear of the perches.

Just a 440 with mild cam. I’m just gonna get it welded since I can just take it off easy. Appreciate it.

Wise move. The bolts would do little to control rotation of the axle under load, should a perch fail. Housing looks rough, or it's a terrible powder coating job.

Lol I took it to my buddy and he said it was really pitted and perches were wrong and I just bought one he had laying around that was factory and correct. Life can’t be easy!
