How much does a complete 8 3/4 Sure Grip center section weight ? Anyone know ?
Thanks !

I weighed a 3.91 SureGrip, 73 pounds. OOF!
Is a '489' housing, if that makes a difference.
Taller gears (higher numerically) will weigh more because of the thicker ring gear.
jus sayin.....

That's why I had to use a jack to get it in. 40 years ago I didn't need a jack. I even struggle with my 275x 15" tires to get them back on with rally rims. Where has all my strength gone?

Had to quit loading those things by hand many moons ago!!

Me too. Built this:

See the problem here is there are no young bucks working on these cars like us old dudes. If they were they would say no problem putting in that rear.

I seem to struggle nowadays with 285/75x16 on steel wheels on my pickup. I don't know why, they are only 105lbs each.

Lets face it, although we can't do the things we used to without help now, we still love love working on these beasts.
