My two boys and i are assembling the rear end. We are not sure how far we have to press the hubs on to the axles. Do we leave some space between hub and backing plate or all the way against it? Pictures would be helpful as well. Thanks

Hubs? What car & rearend are you working on? If you're talking about axle bearing, you press them all the way onto the axle shaft up to where they stop against the axle flange (name?) where the wheel studs go. I believe there's a lip/taper/something. Someone who knows more, please chime in

It's a 62 savoy with an 8.75 rear end. The axle shaft and hubs are seperate. After sitting down and thinking about it, I don't think the hubs are pressed on. They might just be held on with the castle nut

They are a taper type press and use a key way along with the nut.

Obviously nobody is understanding my question, so here is a pic. Does the site flush against the backing plate? I can't remember. Had pictures but lost them on my old phone.

There should be a stop on the axle itself, and it's a taper fit so it will only go so far.
