A few minor electrical questions - 70 Charger

After a couple months of tedious work, testing and tracing most of the summer, I finally have my wiring and electrical nearly all sorted out. I have a few questions outstanding, though.

-The shift indicator light (console): Will it only light up if the ignition is on "Run"? I can't test that at the moment but it won't light up with key on or accessory on. I know the LED works.

-My brake system light doesn't seem to come on, either. Possibly for the same reason; it won't light up unless the car is running?

Indicator isn't going to light up unless the headlights are on. Brake fail key on...

Thanks, gives me something new to check...hopefully the shift indicator was good the whole time, I just never had the headlights on to test.

grounding the wire at the brake valve or the wire at the parking brake with the key in run or accessory should illuminate the brake light.. If not check the bulb, if it's good look for 12v at the bulb location...
