Many years ago my first wife, I, and some friends decided to take a trip up the California coast to Monterrey. This being a spur of the moment trip, we did not make any hotel reservations, thinking there would be an open one. Well we get there and find that it was a festival weekend and there was not a room to be had any where. Traffic was bad and the cops had set up the streets to flow one way. So being stuck in the traffic we went with the flow. Now after an hour we get down to the street that goes by the waterfront where the pier is, and across fro the pier there was a hotel with a vacancy sign. My wife starts trying to get me to go rent a room. I looked at her and said "There can only be two reasons they have room. Either the price is so high no one is willing to pay it or you have to arm wrestle the rats to get to the bathroom, and I'm afraid I might lose!."

I betting on the 2nd one, not saying you will lose to a rat. Had something similar when I went up to mn. for my surgery in Burnsville. We found out later the motel we stayed at 1 1/2 weeks before, they had a shooting there and about a week after that they had a drug bust. We got the motel thru Expedia.
