I wanted to give a little credit to Advance Auto. With customer service like this, I'll definitely use them again when I can.

Story/Rant: in 2014 I bought a complete MSD setup. 6al2 programmable, pro billet distrib. Ss coil and wires from carquest. Friend worked there and I got a good deal.. I installed and the MSD made a difference in the running of the sick 383, but I only ran the car a few times and maybe had 10 hours on the box. Last weekend it stranded me and an $80 tow charge. Later, I'm home and figured out it was the 6al2. Figuring it was out of warranty, I spent a week trying to get a hold of a real person at MSD. Never happened! I was 2nd in line, 12th in line, 16th, 13th, etc. and never made it. One time I was on hold for over an hour and a half( just set phone down on speaker) then they closed and cut the phone call! One day, out to lunch, one day closed for employee appreciation. I left messages, emails...nothing..

With nothing left I went back to carquest, which is now Advance Auto thinking no way would they do anything. Well I was wrong. They would have replaced the box straight up, but it wasn't in stock, But they had the 6al in stock so I took that. They gave me the box and store credit for the remainder of purchase price! Again, great customer service, unlike MSD.

To think I've given MSD great props in the past!

Sorry for long rant

Hats off to Advane

I hope I never have to call MSD. I have the whole system as well. Sorry you had such a miserable experience with them.. Good for Advanced Auto!

Thanks, I don't know why MSD even has contact info! I hope everyone's systems work and they don't have to call too! It is good that the products do work well, usually.

I type with two fingers as well on my IPad. I call em "fat fingers"

I always look at my threads a couple of times before I post, but never fails I always miss sumpthing. LOL

Sept. 22, 2015, "Holley Performance Products is pleased to announce the acquisition of the El Paso, TX based MSD Group. The MSD Group includes iconic brands such as MSD, Mr. Gasket, Accel, Superchips, Edge, Racepak, Mallory, Hays, QuickTime and Lakewood."

I wonder, is it because Holley now owns MSD or were they always that way?

I don't know, but apparently holley owns weiand. I bought a weiand action+ manifold for my 318 awhile back, and it straight up wouldn't work. I had to grind away aluminum to clear the STOCK FACTORY distributor, and it wouldn't seal at all. I put a straight edge to it, and it was straight... but the bolt holes were drilled in the wrong places! So I drilled out the holes a little, and finally got it to seal. And then it didn't clear my hood w/ and eddy carb and low profile air cleaner.

So I bought the edelbrock performer intake and with no modifications at all, it sealed perfect, and cleared the hood. And the eddy fit the stock distributor. No more holley products for me. I like edelbrock now. I couldn't get ahold of weiand, so I called summit (the place I bought it from) and dag nab it, my warranty was expired. But summit gave me a $50 gift card and a discount on an eddy manifold just out of kindness. Kudos to summit racing!
