Hello all, I have a question. I just picked up an A1000 pump for my new build. I notice it says suitable for in tank or BELOW tank use. Will this unit function correctly if trunk mounted and pulling from a stock tank? I will of course use the correct size feed line to the pump.
Thanks for any input.

Hi,

Electric pumps perform the best if they are :

1) near the tank/source

2) the inlet of the pump is not above the tank/source

3) no voltage drop at the pump. Large gauge wire and a relay. Think 8-10 gauge.

If you mount it on the frame rail with a short line to the pickup tube you should be fine. Avoid putting it up in the trunk or worst, up front on the firewall or inner fender. If the pump is too high, it puts more load on the electric motor. A voltage drop will cause it to pull more amps and run hot. Running hot shortens the life.

Thank you, about what I expected. I don't think I can sneak this thing into the tank, so I will plan on inline below tank level.

Fuel pumps push, not pull. Follow that rule and you’ll be good to go.

To ensure proper fuel pump performance and longevity, mount pump level with or lower than the bottom, and as close to the tank, as possible.
This is right from Aeromotive's instruction sheet.
