Hi all, I Put My battery for my 66 Coronet in the trunk, Ran a power cable from it to the junction box on the fender well, Then across to the solenoid, My Question is should I run a Hot wire from the Alternator back to the battery or can I just go the 4 feet to the junction? any help would be appreciated, Thanks Mike.

Battery in trunk so now you need a large cable from the engine to the frame to ground the starter for cranking. You no longer have a cable from negative post of battery to the block.

The short alternator wire to junction box will work, except in the case of using a NHRA (SPST) type battery disconnect switch at the battery.
If you want to keep that simple type wiring and have a Battery disconnect, you can get a disconnect switch that has two switches (DPST) in it and wire it to kill the ignition power along with the main power.

I do have a disconnect near the battery to kill my power, are you saying then I cannot use the junction box for my Alt Wire? TIA I truly appreciate It You Men are wickedly Smart!!!!!!! Mike.

Do you intend on racing it? If so there are shut off rules. If not you can run it to the junction up front.

A Single Pole Single Throw (SPST) switch at the battery is fine if not racing. The problem is the switch will not kill the engine if the car is running because the alternator is providing power to the ignition when connected to the power junction connection.
If the battery switch needs to kill the engine while disconnecting power there are several way it can be done / wired with different trade offs.
Usually, I like the Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) cut-off switch as it is pretty simple and don't require the large power relays.
