Other than reduced weight and adding a little bling to the engine compartment what are the benefits of using an aluminum water pump housing?

Also ... will any year housing fit my 64 383 block?

Aluminum disapates heat faster than cast iron a little reduction in operating temperture.

There are minor differences in the early vs late housing but they do have the same bolt pattern to the block. Then there is the very late truck type that has the inlet on the pass side.

The early style pump housing has the upper alternator mounting bracket bolt in a different position. Here you can see a late style bracket on a early style housing - it's a no go!

Passenger side inlet????????????

I need an aluminum housing with the inlet on the passenger side for my 440. Where have you saw these?

Thanks HitIt ... that picture really helped me. I've already got enough to do on this car so the cast housing will stay for now.
