Well I just broke a torsion bar adjuster bolt while trying to unload the bars. Yes the car was completely off the ground.

I'm pissed because I thought these were grade 8 bolts!? It snapped as though it were just a regular bolt, I doubt I put much more than 75 ft pounds!

...Anyway now I have to find some more cuz I'm sure the other one's going to do the same. Anyone know where I can find a pair?

ya gotta soak those bastids for a day or so with PB Blaster...they will break ...they crust up with rust on the topside ..

Last I checked you could still get them from Mopar. I believe PST sells them also. They arent' that hard or expensive to come by.

It's scary as hell isn't it. I was under my car when one of mine broke and made a crazy loud bang when it happened. I thought I was dead. Rev does that include the block and the bolt from Mopar. The one I bought from ebay was a little to big although I did get it too work with a little coehersion with a pry bar on the LCA.

Oh I forgot to mention also I would suggest using anti-seize next time on the threads and the rounded tip.

I love anti-seize. (When it's not all over my hands)
And yes, if I remember correctly, the pair I bought had the blocks.

Rev, you wouldn't happen to remember the part number would you? Maybe I'll just call our local Chrysler dealer and see if I don't get a stupid look.

I broke one about 3 weeks ago ,it didn't take much for it to snap....I'm not looking forward to getting the rest of the bolt out. :(

Well I cut out the rest of the bolts today with a grinder... Yup the second bolt broke as well even after soaking it down daily for a week.
Broke the handle on the grinder, using a brand new blade but it wouldnt reach in deep enough so I did something you should never do... I removed the guard! No nothing happened except have the sparks burn my wrists (not serious just enough to be annoying) Eventually I cut a couple slits far enough to where I could beat on it with a cold chisel and mini sledge and they came right out.

Took me just over an hour just because I had to be extreamly carefull having no guard as I've had them cutting wheels explode on me before. I always wear my safty glass and ear plugs and normally would never have removed or comprimised saftey devices but all turned out well.

I'm still looking for that PN for you. I just moved recently and my garage is a mess. I did find my toothbrush finally....

Here's the bits and pieces of the adjusters I cut out as well as the rubber torsion bar isolators (or whats left of them) and the new steel ones I'll be using

I'll be adding the picture of the old twisted torsion xmember in another thread as well as I said I would, but wanted to share it here too
