Annoying TV ads part 15

I was just thinking about the differences in ad content from when I was growing up to the ads of today.
In the 70s, we had ads featuring Morris the cat, Mr Whipple advising people Don't squeeze the Charmin, Ads for Bayer aspirin, Bufferin, All-Tempa-Cheer, Tide, McDonalds and Burger King, Beer ads but......NO ads for prescription drugs.
Do any of you remember ads for that crap?
Nope, but you left out a few....
Teryton- I'd rather fight than switch
Alka-Seltzer-Plop, Plop, Fizz, Fizz
Cal Worthington (no explaination
necessary)
Earl Shibe-I'll paint any car for $49.95
Smokey The Bear-Only you can
prevent forest fires.
Walt Disney
Also commercials for Slinky,
Silly Putty, and Hot Wheels, and let's
not forget the Schwinn Stingwray at
the top of every kids wish list.
Though, as a kid, I don't remember
any of these being particually
annoying, I'm sure they grated on
my parents' nerves.
It just goes to show how far we've
strayed from family values.
Just compare cartoons from then
'till now. I've not watched a single
episode of Sponge Bob....

So, there are two commercials on T.V. from Comcast that blow me away with their creativeness! Mind you, I HATE
Comcast, but these commercials are great! Frankenstein in the Castle asking "Anything about the Bangs? and the
Rabbit commercial with the 1950's band with Louis Jordan, And the green grass grows all around. Comcast is
fighting for their life right now so spending alot of money on commercials seems like a good idea.

Firing Frieburger and Dulcich is what ruined motor trend TV. I've got 60 or so Engine master shows on dvr, NOTHING since the firing. I think I might have spent a half hour on MTTV once, about two weeks ago.

I watch reruns

Ok how bout the “You must call 1 833 for your $900.00 Medicare healthy food allowance card” commercials. They are literally on EVERY… COMMERCIAL… BREAK!! What cracks me up though is they say “healthy” food allowance, keyword being healthy… and they show Oreos and Roman noodles
 :BangHead:

I have not seen those.
I suppose that the advertisers buy time for their ads to air in TV shows that are popular with their target audience.
I'd guess that episodes of Matlock and Golden Girls would probably have denture cream, Doan's Pills, Bayer aspirin, "I've fallen and I can't get up" Life Alert pendants, etc.
Why then...
All these boner pills and 72 hour deodorant ads on the shows that I like? Blue Bloods, Chicago Fire/PD, Criminal Minds....

And that chick they have on HRTV now...so annoying with those cheezy hand chestures as she talks.
Plus her fatty liver sidekick agreeing to any and everything she sezs. This won't last long.

How bout the “pancakes and guac” and “what is happening in here, I’m so immersed in team USA” Xfinity commercial with those clowns from wedding crashers?? They, like the Medicare commercials are on… EVERY…COMMERCIAL…BREAK! Maybe its a Roku thing because I get ALL of the same commercials every break.

If you have a "service", cable, roku, whatever....

there are "overlay" ads that run on the system, sometimes over top of local or even network ads.
