Question for those that have replaced their k-frame and torsion bar mounting bushings. The new sets i have came with inner sleeves, but what did you do regaring the outer sleeves?

Mine are completely destroyed, rusted, and not useable. Was this only a requirement for the original rubber ones or do you need these for the new urathane bushings?

here is what i am referring to, and one from the K-frame.

I'm trying to think where that fits?
Is that part of the bushing?

Because the torsion bar mounts directly to the Lower Control Arm (each lower control arm) scoket.

Sorry folks, should have posted a better reference picture. This is the sleeve that goes on the bushing that fits into the k-frame, same is true with the torsion bar mount frame bushings.

yup, I remember; (I think)
Throw that away, that WAS part of the old bushing.
When I pressed mine out, the bushing came out of it's sleeve.
I'm almost 100 percent certain the new bushing comes with that outer housing.

Thanks everyone! There were no outer sleeves with the new bushings, and i just wanted to make sure it was part of the old bushing setup. Cool. I just have to smooth out those openings a bit so they dont wear into the new bushings.

On a previous build, actually the 70 "Bee", I ruined multiple bushings. How?
Simple, on a set of upper control arms, I pressed out the old bushings, sandblasted the a-arms and had them powder coated. What I DID NOT KNOW because I'm dumb was: the bushing rubber part came out but the metal shell was left in BOTH cupper control arms. When the new bushings arrived I "pressed" them in. They would distort. Reason was: yup, I left the old metal shell in the a-arm.
I learnt!
