I recently was gifted a 2011 Loaded Expedition. So I spent a day this weekend cleaning it up. I know the vehicle well and it only has 45,000 miles on it. I put a battery in it a few years ago, opened the hood to check everything and noticed the terminals needed cleaning so I cleaned them. Fired back up computer reset everything BUT the rear lift gate and rear window now no longer work by the outside switches!! Dash works to open it and so does the key fob. It’s a convenient thing to open it from the back with out keys or climbing in it and I don’t even know how to open the rear window alone if I did just want to open that… So I looked on the internet and many others have had this issue after disconnecting the battery. They say you need to reset the computer that controls the electric lift. So I disconnected it again like they said to reset it. Nothing. I opened hatch then disconnected it again and manually closed it after connecting the battery. Nothing. I disconnected the fuse under the dash while leaving battery connected. Nothing. I disconnected the fuse at the kick panel. Nothing. I disconnected both fuses. Nothing. I waited a minute to 5 minutes when reconnecting power. I went through the computer settings making sure the lift gate was on. I am frustrated as to everything the Internet gurus said to do has yielded me nothing.:cursin::BangHead: The switch worked fine UNTIL I cleaned the terminals. Thanks and Any help is appreciated.

Usually requires operating the window all the way down and all the way back up. Sometimes a couple times. Try that and if it doesn't work, get me the vin and I'll have my buddy that's a dealer tech look it up for you.
We trade info.

I can get that info for you. Also the window pops open not up and down.. Thank you.

You ever hear of "re-gifting" ? I'll even pick it up, thank you. Result: no more worries for you.

My 11 x F150 had setting controls of how and what you want to operate. Scroll the screen to vehicle setting and look for window options.

I did that it shows as “on” I even reset it from on to off the back on… Still nothing..

I find the internet to be pretty much useless in these matters

I don’t know if this would work on a ford but my brothers 4Runner will act up if the battery is disconnected. Try taking the negative terminal off for a minute or so and see if that helps. It works for us. Also lock and unlock it from the fob before trying the windows. Good luck. Mike
