A friend introduced me to Ham Radio and I am taking my Technician test this Saturday. Just wondering if there are any other Hams on this site.

My grandfather was a Merchant Marine as a 14 year old....he was a Marconi operator around 1910-14 . He was at sea when the Titanic went down .....he had a HAM on n the basement for 50 years

GTX, Gold claim, camping, gym workouts not enough? Must be bored.

Yeah, i am sure several here. Good luck with your exam, easy if you have studied.
PT in Tennessee
K3PB

KD5LLX here, good luck with your test. Shouldn’t be a problem. Not sure but I think they did away with the Morse code requirement on the general license. Take the general test while you’re at it, more band privileges.

You are correct, no more code.
My son passed his Extra exam Friday.
K4KLB in the Rocket City.

Cool. I will take one bite at a time but I will certainly get the General as well, probably in August as there is a test once a month at the local Elks Lodge ( provided our communist governor doesn't close everything up again). I have been looking since I retired 2 1/2 years ago for "my cake and be able to eat it". I wanted something that I could enjoy, take or leave. NOT be committed to, could take on the road with me as well. This is it, plus all the fun stuff one can be involved in. Next year, Field Day from my gold claim in the Sierra foothills!

Well, 3 of those got "shut down" pretty much so I have to have something. What are you doing in retirement? How are you feeling these days?

When you get your licence visit your local Ham club and get the repeater info will be invaluable

WN0MBG but that was decades ago and I never got on air or got past my novice license

I believe there is a rare mopar version of ham radio
Available from mid 55 to 61

I think the short wave converter is receive only, therefore not a ham radio.
