Any reason that I can’t run a 360 converter behind a 440?

Hello, I have a remanned converter that I bought for a 360. I’ve changed directions and will now be building a 440 and selling the small block parts. Any reason I can’t use the converter with the 440?

The 360 was an externally balanced LA block with a 73 727. The 440 is also an externally balanced 73 and the trans is a 64 push button with a swapped 24 spline input shaft.

The converter was rated for 2200-2400 behind the 360 and does have balancing weights. I think I’m good to use it but figured I should ask, otherwise it’ll get sold.

Thanks

It’s the wrong amount of imbalance for an external 440.

Expect a vibration.

You can knock the weight off and use the correct weighted flext plate for the 440.

I ran a factory LRE converter with the weight removed behind my old re-ringed 68 440....... worked great.

Ah, figures. Thanks

As PRH said, the 360 weights are wrong, Cut them off use the aftermarket weighted flex plate for a 440, I presume you have the correct "440 cast crank" damper. Using the 440 weights on the 360 converter after cutting the 360 weights off may be fine, IIRC the 440 weights are in a different location than the 360. I've seen the diagrams, maybe in a Mopar bible.

I thought that the spline count was different too.

good question kerndog
as long as they are both 727 , and not early 727, or as said lock up he should be fine
904-999 is what would be different
oppost up your stall when you are done
