Any recommendations on how to photograph a dark car?

Sweet ride! All those pics look great to me !!!!

The best way to shoot a darker car is to use a purpose-built studio - matt white walls with no edges, Our local magazine built their own just for cars. It looks like a skate-board ramp on the edges, and when you stand in the space for the car, it is almost impossible to see any seams or even where the wall starts. Remember the camera picks up way more detail than the eye.

These were taken in that studio...

And for outdoor photography...the best examples I have seen posted here are done by Tekhouse. Full of colour yet not overdone, contrast is perfection, and framed nicely. Shadows, light and reflections are handled well. :headbang:

I have a friend who is pretty good with a camera & if I were sided by side with him taking the same picture at the same angle, his come out 10 times better than mine. Some people just have the talent for it.

Shooting in broad daylight is hard. I shoot in manual or 'semi' manual modes. I was at Nitro Nats today and shot fast moving top fuelers all day. Shooting in TV (time value) mode is best for moving subjects. And AV (aperture value) for still ones.

Shooting broads in daylight presents challenges as well.

I have absolutely no good advise to give to you Hunt but from the examples Tekhouse posted I think I'd take his advise. Your Charger never fails to empress by the way.

He is not asking about shadows..he asked about REFLECTIONS! Shooting at noon will do bugger all.

Sorry........... When I look at the pics the only thing I see wrong is shadows of trees, not my fault the car is so damm shiny!

"Shooting at noon will do bugger all"?????

Tried it again, but this time in town where there aren't so many trees. It sure is hard finding a spot that has no trees, buildings, fences, misc. that will reflect off a car.

You don't want poles growing out of the car as seen in picture #3.
