I'm looking at this rebuild kit and I was wondering if it is what I will need. I've been told the 3rd gear clutch is "gone". I have a 1971 Plymouth Satellite with a 318 and a 904 transmission. I'm considering tackling this with a friend who builds race cars and I want to make sure I get what I need.

rockauto sells good parts you just have to know what your buying , name brand ect. i have made a few mistakes my self buying from them because i didnt do my homework before buying the parts .

That is a very good price and complete. I usually pay about $70.00 for the same kit at a local transmission supply house.
When putting the seal in the forward drum make sure to lube the seal real good and work it side to side as you seat it. You won't be able to get anything under the piston to help in it. Also on the front pump make sure you stake the bushing in or IT WILL SPIN and come out!!

A recommendation is when you get it out is take the torque converter and tip it over and let the fluid run in to your hand and look closely for very fine metal shavings. if you see any then replace it. But honestly I would also replace it any way.

And flush out the cooler lines.
