Anyone else struggle with ACC carpet?

I have had very good response fron ACC if the carpet does not fit right. I have always installed the carpet within a month or so. They have replaced the carpet if my pictures show the problem. And the replacement comes very quick.
That might work if the carpet was installed within a few months after piurchase...I doubt they would be keen to replace if they know it was sitting in a box all rolled up for twelve years.

Worth a shot to ask them.....but don't hold your breathe. Also try installing a heater in the car with the carpet weighted down. It might help soften the glue backing enough to help get the shape back.....Preferably an oil finned heater - no naked flames or exposed electric element heaters.....no point setting the car on fire.

A couple years ago I installed new ACC carpet with the mass backing in the GTX, it fit really well right out of the box.

New carpet coming in about a week. Did any of you who had success installing with great results, use adhesive?

I had the same thing happen with the last carpets. Previous ones were taken out of the box and used quickly. Not a problem. Last set I got, sat in the box too long, and had problems getting the correct fit.
After steam cleaning and using weights things are looking better.
440 4 speed, what I meant to say was I had to wait 6-7 months just to get the carpet. Not sure what took so long for them to ship it or make it.

Nope. Wanted to have "breather" room. All held in place by the various attachments (console, kick plates, seats, etc.)

I do not use any adhesive at all. The kick panels and the screw hold downs under the door sills hold it well. I let it sit in the hot sun and use weights where needed.

Well then i hope this 2nd one breathes properly for a great fit:rolleyes:

Check to see if the backing has issues as soon as you receive your carpet set. I've had a few that were badly wrinkled when the insulation backing shifted in the heat molding process and stayed that way.

I called ACC about the Rock Auto return/exchange and was allowed to have the replacement shipped without the insulation glued to the carpet. This was with the jute not mass backing. The replacement fit very well.

Ok fellas, new ACC carpet arrived friday, i let sit out over the weekend and trying to fit now. The rear section is really looking good… the front-not so much. Still the bad crease’s around the heel pad, and couple on pass side foot pan. I don’t know if it would get any better if i tried yet another new order?

Also, when how does one locate the 2 small holes for accelerator pedal? I assume the entire pedal sits on top of the carpet?IMG_7024.jpeg

You have to cut out a section for the heel and the pad will sit on the molded floor section. Here is where I cut mine out. But make sure once you align the carpet this area matches up to about this area. I used an awl from underneath to check location. Also did same with the seat bolt holes and used a hot nail to make the holes larger.

Usually it's a good idea to lay it out flat under the warm sun. You don't need adhesive. A heat gun ON LOW SETTING very carefully (or hair dryer, warm it, don't burn it ! ) on that area while pressing in with a damp (damp, not soaking wet) towel. After a few minutes, prop something hard and flat on the area, with say the weight of a brick, and let it stay for a day, should do wonders to flatten.

Yep, I used some lead weights and some of those cheap plastic coated weightlifting plates to help get it to lay flat.

You need one of these rectangular gaskets that go under the accelerator pedal. I think it goes between the carpet and the floor pan. You can make one if you have some of that white poly foam that's thick enough. Some packaging uses it.

That's a bad wrinkle that you will not get out using any of the suggestions.

Try removing the jute backing, glue the backing down then steam the wrinkle out and install the carpet.

Yeah, good point. I forgot I had to do that also on mine.

Ummm, remove the already glued jute? Then glue it back? Then steam?
Not only am i confused, i don’t own a steamer…..
seems to me if ACC brags about being the best, they need to provide a carpet that fits right

Just got off the phone with Rock Auto, they talked to ACC, and are sending yet another carpet out….
