I am restoring a 69 satellite and got the idea to cut the rear quarters below the body line and fab in the lower quarters from a 70 with the side scoops. Has anyone seen this done and if so have any pictures?

Should be easy to PS it and see how it looks. If you're not making it stock, you're not restoring...you're modifying.

i don't remember ever seeing or hearing anybody doing something like that ,but it would be different. If you do decide to do that put up some photos so we can see how it turned out.

Ok, I guess I am modifying it, but it feels like a restoration with the money I am dumping into it and the condition it was in was not great. Thanks for the input.

Interesting.....So I take it you're gonna graft in the new quarters before it reaches the tail (being they're a lot different)? Are you going to graft in new marker light holes in the front fenders being the '69 has marker reflectors and the '70 has the taller marker lights?

Ever think about just grafting in the scoop? I'm guessing that's the item on the '70 quarter you like more than a '69. Or are the old quarters junk anyways and you're just going to buy a set of 1970 quarter skins for it?

You are sharp Propwash. the lower quarters were rusted so I am going with the 70 skins. They are already in. I will get pics up when it is finished.

LMFAO...LOL. That's one freakin crazy modification lol. Can't stop laughing...LOL. Almost 69 1/2... LOL. Thats a good one. Looks good though.

Oh, I see where you're going. I had originally thought that you wanted to keep the ridge that 68-69s have at the top of the side, not get rid of it all together. This will look interesting with the '69 taillights.

Waaiiiit a minute. This thing's a convert? First I'm hearing of it!

I like your bolted-onto-the-brakedrum dollies, too.
