wow a 5+ year old thread resurrected:luvplace:

funny meme RC

I'd say - it seems evident the median age here is a might well - aged...yeah plus me...I'm no longer one who could lower it. I'm getting tired of running around the house chasing flies with a swatter when it's only my floaters (I took this from a cartoon someone posted finding it friggin hilarious - but kinda true).

I.had it done due to a side effect of radiation treatments to.my left eye having a tumor. Cataract in one eye only. It was so bad. Was blind in one eye. All fixed now. Cataract surgery was a breeze! And quick and didn't hurt . And now i can see great !
Don't worry! Get It done. You'll be happy!

RC had a Cataract? I thought he had a Rincoln Continental:rolleyes:

Although I am young to have it, it looks like I'm going under the laser in a month for one eye & the 2nd eye the following month. So, who here has done it & how bad was the procedure to endure?

I’ve had both done along with laser surgery in my left eye.
Cataract procedure is not bad and nothing to worry about. You may feel some minor discomfort that evening, much like being up late playing video games. They will give you eye drops to put in for several days afterward and it will take a couple of days or so for vision to return to normal and then it will get better from there.

you may experience some months later, an opaque film in that eye - they will get rid of that in an office visit with a wide angle laser. This doesn’t hurt at all and takes maybe 10 minutes to do.

Good luck!

I had a Vitrectomy done on my right eye just under a year ago and was told that the cataract in that eye would get worse and will need cataract surgery within a year. I'm getting ready for the cataract surgery soon.

I have had eight procedures on my eyes. The cataract surgeries were the first. The first eye got so bad that it was like trying to look thru wax paper. Huge improvement. I had my doc put in a nearsighted lens, i was still working and needed to wear safety glasses in the shop, and i was used to excellent close-up vision i then had put off the second cat surgery. Bad idea.
All of a sudden , the world was a black and white checker board. I went to my cat surgeon, he sent me to a retina specialist IMMEDIATELY for a retina tear. Walk in past ten people at the ret spec, in a chair getting lazered in five minutes, but i couldnt see with either eye. Immediately scheduled the other cat surgery.
Since, i have had two torn retina, two YAG lazer surgeries, a detached retina (a real pain in the ***, tho not in the eye, much worse than
just a tear) that required two physical surgeries to correct, and it is still not right, the focal length is off.
I find myself with one eye closed most of the time.
My cat surgeon is excellent, but you never know what your personal reaction to surgery is going to be.
I have had very similar experiences as you, with multiple cornea transplants , and even an artificial cornea which worked out great, until I got a retina infection. Retina problems are bad news. I shut one eye most of the time too. " Blind in one eye, can't see out the other " ! ............................MO

I had the procedure done 1 1/2 years ago . I had an injury in my right eye that eventually became a cataract . I wore glasses and contacts for 20 years .The most pain was the anesthesia and cleaners applied during the beginning of the procedure - 1/2 hour later it was done on the way home looking through the bandage I could see amazing instantly . The second eye was done now I see like a hawk for distance and even reading . No pain ever and still fantastic you will be amazed .
