...and if so, how is the drive quality?

I have some 295 x 50 x 15 tires that wallowed on 8" rims and am thinking of installing 10" wide steels on the back.
Just wondering about ride quality.
Car is a 73 Roadrunner.

When it was on the road, my car (70 rr) had 10" Appliance mags on the back with 12.25" wide Formula 1 Super Stock tires (okay, so that's how long ago it was:) It was solid, no wallowing and good cornering. That was as large as I could go, on hard corners it would start to buff the dirt from the inner fenderwell so you could see the paint.

I will be getting my 295x50x15's installed on 10" wide Rallye wheels this weekend, 265x60x15's on 8" wide front, will up load some pics when done. She wont be ready to drive for a while yet, but soon. There was someone else on the forum here that had the Magnum 500 type wheels with the same size and looked real good. Just make sure you have a 5.5 inch back space on the rear rims. Oh, and these are going on 73 Roadrunner also!

Thanks guys. The wheels I'm looking at are the Wheel Vintiques Chrysler oem 63 type. I think they come with 5" backspace. Is that enough with stock location springs and wheel wells?

I am using 5.5 back space, and I have about 1.5 inches to the springs, and about 1 inch from the outer wheel to the inside the wheel opening, so should not hit anything. If you are using 5 inch back space, it may be close enough to get some rub on the outer wheel wells if anything, measure lots before you buy or mount tires, because once you mount rubber on any of the Wheel Vintiques wheels, they are not returnable!!!!

Sure, thanks. They are even less returnable once I import them here to the UK!
I did fit the same tyres to my 8x15 rims with only 4" backspace and they rubbed a touch on the wheel arch lips over bumps.
Guess I will be measuring carefully tomorrow.
