Are People Really This Stupid?

The Tractor Supply near me has a low cost/free vet clinic every other Saturday, for discount shots and things.
My deaf boy is becoming more socialized, as I'm allowed to bring him into our local walmarts. He's very popular there. Only problem is occasional puddles of doggie drool. I wipe it up with my shoes.
Sounds like a happy family. Dog's are the best company. Thanks for the heads up on Trackor supply. I'd forgotten about that.

There are some people who should never own pets or be allowed to have children. Irresponsible, ignorant, selfish people that ruin the lives and create grief and misery for the rest of us. Just like the worthless drunks who get behind the wheel and murder innocent pedestrians and drivers with their cars,I think there needs to be stiffer punishments for those who allow dangerous animals to run free and attack and kill others. I dont blame the dog,I blame the idiot who allowed it to happen, either by lack of training or their Irresponsibility.
I saw a video on YouTube where a man deliberately lifted his pit bull over a fence so ot could attack and kill the cats inside the yard. That same guy later had the dog taken away and euthanized when it killed a woman's dachshund.
I frankly dont understand the fascination a certain segment of society has with pit bull dogs. I think its an intimidation/ thug image thing. The same guys who brag about doing 10 years in prison, always trying to look "tough",but really look illiterate, ignorant and trashy. And quite frankly some of these dogs are being deliberately bred and given steriods to look as ugly as sin with wide jaws like alligators.
Society just keeps swirling the drain.

I agree with most of that, I have a problem with any dog being selected as more of a fashion accessory or image thing. And I do think Pits are a problem breed, but only in that they can be as sweet or mean as any other dog in my experience, but they are so damn strong that if they act out its trouble. Its like Lennie from Mice and Men.
I had a neighbor that always had Pits and one would escape often, luckily it was a sweet girl and I am good with dogs. I got her to come to me twice by just crouching and going "oh! who's a good girl?!?! come here ! yes!" and one of those times I then sat in my driveway on the ground with her on my frigging lap happy as she could be while we waited for the owner who I called.
Thanks, these are all good fighting tricks. However again in my case, trying to subdue one dog in front of you by any means that has the intent of biting your neck, while another is behind you tearing up your calves trying(?) to bring you down, is a tough nut to crack. Everybody has a suggestion on how to fight one dog, two is a horse of another color altogether.
I have tried to have convey here how dangerous that becomes very quickly. Take no prisoners.
Oh yeah I threw that out as more of a general thing. And in my example its a way easier situation because it was just one angry dog and it was oblivious to us, it only saw its victim. For your situation I think you made the best of it.

Lol! Thats a funny, but apt comparison. Burgess Meredith and Lon Chaney Jr. are great in that film by the way.
I know many pit bulls seem very kind natured, but it just seems you cant ever trust them completely though. There are too many incidents, like the 22 year old woman who was mauled to death by her dogs while walking them..or another where young woman was permanently disfigured after the pit bull she raised since a puppy turned on her and tore her to shreds for no reason when they were sitting on the couch, her face was destroyed forever..and the dog had killed one of her other dogs earlier and she ignored the warning. And those are just a few of many incidents.
I love dogs too,but you never hear things like that about labs,Golden retrievers,Great Danes etc.
Pit bulls are like the Mike Tyson of the dog world. unpredictable, powerful and highly dangerous. Fine to be around when hes on your side, but if he decides he doesnt like you, youre cooked. Lol.

One of my next door neighbors has dogs....no pits though but they attack the wood fence whenever I'm doing yard work near that wood fence and it is getting old so I'm always armed. He has always had several dogs and more than city ordnance allows. I won't have any qualms protecting myself as much as I would hate doing that.

Saw a statistic once regarding dog attacks, fatal and otherwise.
The one that stuck out?....
Of all fatal dog attacks of children to 20 years old, 92% were pit bull or pitbull mixes. ALL other breeds combined amounted to the other 8%, and not one single breed was above 1%. Don't even try to tell me "it's how they were raised by their owners".
NO pitbulls, thanks. I carry a 380 in case.

Yep,reminds me of the story of the man who raised an orphan hippo,he would ride around on its back and play with it in the pool. Everyone warned him it wasnt safe, that the animal would turn on him one day. But he argued saying he raised it since it was a baby and it never showed any aggression, then one day it turned on the man and literally cut him in half in front of his wife.
Too manu stories of pitbulls exhibiting the same behavior. Why risk it?

Well while I still feel bad for pits I long ago knew no way I would own one. Not so much that I'm worried about it turning on me even if I know it can happen. I just don't want to put my other animals at risk.
I had this other big mutt named Bandit in the 90s, and he basically killed one of our oldest dogs, and it wasn't even that he attacked her, just he was a total brute and was too stupid to see the dog was weak and didn't want to play. No wounds or anything just slobbered all over her with rough puppy play and she collapsed, and kind of had a heart attack and died as we just said nice things to her.

Because of those experiences no pits or really any dog that just has too much of a power advantage over the other animals. Some of you with a really good memory may remember in the Dogs thread where I saved a dog that was just hit by a car, by the time I got to the ER I had already done the math and knew size wise she was a pretty safe bet for the animals at home but luckily she didn't need me to adopt her.

Dogs in a pack can be a force to be reckoned with! These dogs make incredibly short work of this skunk! They didnt give a damn about its spray, they just got in there and sent it to its maker. Lol

"Are People really this stupid?"

Proof is in the pudding IMO.

Yep. Stupidity abounds. Its getting to be where nothing would shock me anymore. Take this news story for instance. Oven,crib...they look so much alike.
