Hello, I am going to replce the head gaskets on my GTX and was going to install ARP head bolts. While searching for them on various sites they list an ARP head bolt kit , but they also list an ARP head stud kit. What do you guys use and is there a preference as far as durability. Thanks in advance, GTX

My 496 has aluminum RPM heads ,11:1 compression. I used the stud kit.

I think the head studs were originally made for the high HP and high comp ratio race motors. Guys started to put them on their hot street/bracket motors because the big boys use them.

I am not sure what the cut off is but maybe you could call ARP and see what they recommend. I would think a 12 to 1 motor would be fine with bolts but after that I would go with studs. If you have an aluminum block then studs.

I put them on when i changed heads on my gtx...This is a good thing..
