At SEMA...

Do I like the grille? No not really, do I like the rims? No not really, and do I like the dashboard? No not really… but you gotta hand it to em, he’s a young guy in the hobby keepin it alive and that what its about. I love that he kept the engine mopar themed, and I love the door handles too

All of the 1970 Charger custom cars with custom grilles seem to abandon the concealed headlight design and it never is an improvement.

Why are all these cars gray or black? At a glance, you'd think they are all the same car with minor changes.
Then there was THIS '69 Charger sporting a 90s sort of Dodge grille design....

Yes, that was strange, must have been a last-minute rush get to the show finish build.
Like they never tested the hood fully closing with the custom radiators (3?) cover
It was too noticeable to be overlooked.

Why are all these cars gray or black?

Apparently, gray is the new green.

"Grayscale colors (white, black, gray, and silver) represent a total of 80% of all vehicles on the road in the United States."

I don't like it. Some may see the grays as classy or refined but I just don't like it. Looking across a parking lot, you might as well be only able to see black and white. Cars like mine stand out like a naked man running down the street with his hair on fire.
I'm not that impressed by the compelling urge to leave carbon fiber parts clear coated instead of being painted.
I know that these SEMA cars are often over the top to get attention but jeez, 90% of the Chargers are black or gray. It is WAY overdone.

Agreed. These cars need to be painted in old school colors. That SEMA exhibitor should realize that their 70 Charger would have been more eye catching if it was painted in a 1970 high impact color.

Let me summarize this video for those who don’t want to watch it, and a majority of SEMA builds, and just as a sure the craftsmanship is ok , a lot
work got put into this blob.

What we have here is (insert car,) the owner was heavily influenced by communism and wanted to turn a beautiful car into a colorless shapeless blob , so we removed any style , put random shapes in places, and made everything a variation of lifeless gray, we even took a beautiful bronze/gold and took its life away making it dull as well. We know the customer will never drive the car, so we wanted to make sure to get rid of a great suspension design and go with Mustang 2 based suspension, because those car so well known for handling and performance. To keep the cookie cutter aspect of the build we dropped a hellcat engine in it , because it sounds cool and that’s what everyone does.

First consider, the naked CF look might be a contemporary revisit of the 1930's German Silver Arrow look when race car bodies were raw Alum without paint to save weight, a main attribute of CF. Clear coating is only necessary for ultimate shine, or the fabricators decision not to incorporate costly UV additives in the CF binder. It also defeats when painted, the primary selling current lure of CF, if you can't see it.
Secondly, it's hard to make naked CF blend well outside the black, grey, white color spectrum and that might be a motivation here for car colors.

Mustang 2 suspension? I missed that. A big car capable of good speed and 305 tires will severely tax any Mustang 2 IFS.
I have seen personally at the Art Morrison facility their ultra-modern upgraded Mopar IFS, and it is impressive and light years beyond any Mustang 2 stuff and robust. I would be surprised if that choice of IFS was NOT chosen for this build, unless as you allude to, it is mainly a show pony.
If car had an ultra-common LS motor, I might concur on your political observation.
Car is regardless in many ways another pie in the sky many thousands hour build check book car with unproven performance and with doubtful form follows function DNA.

Regardless, it is an awesome build and the young man gets and deserves a big

I got bored watching the video, I only assumed that’s what it has because that’s what everyone flocks too
