I have a 1971 Super Bee and this is a follow up to a discussion I was having on FB..

I ordered new fender emblems for my car... My car's fender emblems have the studs on the back; the new (replacement) ones have studs as well.
I was told that in 1971 they changed fender emblems from the stud type (1968-1970) to a decal in 71; I know some/most original cars that were decals..

My questions is, does anyone else have the stud type? did they use both?
I'm just curious as my car was repainted in the early 90's..
If it matters, my car is a California car built on 9/11/1970

Thanks!
Mark

The word "Superbee" is a studded emblem. The Bee itself is a decal. If you put a tape line between the center of the front fender and rear quarter side marker lights, that's the height the emblem and decal fit on the fender. The Bee decal is after the emblem on both fenders. So it is on the front on the P/S and at the rear on the D/S.
Hope this helps.

no bee metal emblem came on a 71
the last year for them was 1970

That does help... maybe I misunderstood the guys on FB.. Thought for sure they were talking about the "Superbee" emblem being a decal for 1971.. Maybe they were talking about the bee itself; which, is obviously a decal..

R/T and Superbee were fender chrome emblems with no studs. The Superbee was a basic dodge charger not a Cornet as in 1969/1970. As a result all 1971 dodge fender are the same with no holes for the R/T & SB models. thus the emblem required not stud mounting
Hope this helps

I concur as far as the fenders not having holes in them for the 71 R/T or Super bee, so I would assume that they were decals, or in the case of the "R/T" and "Super bee", stick-on badges.

I'm still a little confused.. My car has the studs and the catalogs for the replacement (1971) emblems show the studs.. Is it possible some had the studs and some didn't?

Not a huge deal here, I was just curious if anyone else has a 71 with the studs..

Thanks to everyone weighing in..

They came both ways depending on production date. Some were stuck on, some had studs. I've seen both. It is placement that is more important than the way it attaches IMO.

My is the stick on metal look close for PN.
FYI. good luck if you are looking for the stick on one.
