AU newby

Hey, Hemi-itis,
My wife and I are going to try for Carlisle in late April. Just wanted to know of some options of where to stay,[ I see your post travelled for the Mopar Nats]
Any help here guys for some newbys going to Carlisle? Sounds like even parking gets tough for the April meet! looking to get in and book early for accomm. Its likely we will fly into NY drive to Carlisle and head over to Niagara Falls after the show

cheers Dave

Dave,

THANK YOU for the pictures and description of the seat belts. These are very helpful!

Regarding Carlisle:
Thursday is setup day (and the day that "professionals" scour the site for great deals and snap them up). Friday is the main day for parts hunting and cars - all folks selling parts are set up by Friday AM. Saturday gets more crowded with the less serious people to enjoy the cars and the show. Sunday is where vendors begin packing up, and the "professionals" try to get some bargains for cars or parts that have not sold and the seller is motivated to sell.

A major influence is also the weather. For example, this year on Friday the rains opened up around 11AM and was very heavy. Most vendors covered up and shut down during the rain, which lasted several hours. The vendors that have covered tents get very busy during the rain! If the forecast is really bad for the weekend, some vendors pack up and leave early.

Since I live close, I do not stay over night and cannot comment on hotels. I generally park along Clay Street. (Google maps "Clay street, Carlisle, PA") It is on the southwest corner of the fairgrounds and is close to the main parts selling areas at the Southern part of the fairgrounds. You can park in the field on the West side of clay street for $10 US. There is also a school on the East side of the fairgrounds that is immediately South of the grounds.

I am sure others have suggestions and opinions as well and can chime is also.

cheers for the comments guys. Hawk, I'll get some pix up during the week. New AU compliant seatbelts are a registration requirement here in my AU state [unfortunately] I have quite a collection of nice orig seatbelt sets for a few GM and Mopars

Heres some pix of some past B bodys and my T/A that I have owned for 8yrs or so.

My old H code 68 Charger
69 runner
my old blue 70 Chall vert [ notice anything 'weird about the 2 verts?]
My old 70 runner at the 2009 Spring Fling

Real nice looking cars!!!

If your flying into NY for the 1st time, you HAVE TO check out NYC!!!:laughing11:

6pakdave---should have kept the '68 Charger-LOL...Love the burnt orange..Never did see too many of them.Beautiful car.

cheers guys, thanks Hawk thats the kind of info an out-o-towner needs! Its the small details like best parking access that the veteran show goers know that can save me some hassles and make the trip better for us.
Hemiitis, the little lady wants to check out Time Square, Central Pk and Statue of Liberty etc, so we will be checking out NY for 2 or 3 days, any recommendations or must see's for a quik stop over?
.Oldbee, I built the 68 here in OZ from an all orig NM car,I was amazed I could actually restore alot of its orig parts incl small stuff like the hood stops, door and trunk seals stainless moulds etc...so sometimes I wished I kept it too! Im sure there are plenty of guys out there that wished they'd kept a past car or 3!

cheers Dave

Hey, Not a Mopar, but I thought Id throw up my SS Chevelle on here for you guys to have a look!
Ive been pretty slack with my poor Chevelle. Its been my old streeter- warhorse since 1989. She's looking more like a barn find these days, like the headers rotted out a few years ago! After 12 months or so parked up, I guzzled in some fresh fuel and charged a battery and was pleasantly surprised. She fired up after a few cranks and idled like a baby! lol

cheers Dave
