Autopsy report on Tom Petty

We got a boat load of that in liquid form for our somewhat recently departed cat.

We googled it. It's the same as the human version.

I tried it. It put my mouth to sleep.

I take ibuprofen maybe two-three times a week; but this stuff as I've read isn't good for you either especially if one enjoys a few beers or drinks. Who knows, some people I know take it all the time and seem to be doing fine yet...I think.
Everything short of breathing ain't good for you, turns out.
Reckon it's a matter of lessening the odds...

I quit taking ibuprofen when I found out it is bad for my liver. Drinking doesn't help. LOL
I switched to Tylenol after my heart surgery. 2 days after open heart surgery Mayo put me on Extra Strength Tylenol and I didn't even know it. The nurse asked me what my pain level was and if I needed something to make it through the night. I am at about a 2. He said "good, you have been on Tylenol all day so far." I still had all my chest tubes in.

I don't know about that. Most of us on this here forum are old former druggies.
Not me, not even weed. Saw too much **** growing up in the Bronx. Wasn't going to let anything take control of me and that included alcohol. Yeah to a few beers or a couple of glasses of wine, but that's it. Alcoholism took many members of my family and made it hell for those who had to put up with it.

Good on you all who got through life without smoking dope and popping pills. Its what we did in HS. I wish I could say that.

I must be the only former dope head in here.

Latest these days is that Advil (ibup.) actually goes after the kidneys more in large doses, not as much Tylenol;
ibuprophen is filtered primarily by them.

Tylenol (acet.) is way worse on livers; it's primarily filtered from the body by them and in large doses it contributes
to hepatitis and other liver issues.
(Example: my wife cannot take Tylenol at all, having suffered hepatitis
several years ago. Doc's orders on that one.)

The answer? Take either in small enough doses, over time, and don't exceed daily maximum recommendations.
Better yet, spread the load out and include Aleve or similar and keep them all in small doses, staggered during
time of day taken.

I take all the above, daily - at staggered times and in lieu of any prescriptions.
It's taken years to perfect the balance between what is "effective enough" (giant pain bucket, remember) and
what is still well within safe dosages for me.

Lol, maybe for those who did that don't like to admit it. Can one be surprised to learn of people who do this stuff when you'd not think so? I was, even the though guy I'm mentioning here was a nut case; except he was my boss a Sr. VP at the time. This was in the late 80's. He invited a few of us to take a golf vacation to stay at his condo down south. He liked to get hammered on alcohol and make a friggin fool of himself doing dumb **** the more stupid the better. Example, when we rented a van at the airport to drive to his place he buried the speedo a couple times. Get to his place to unpack and I walk in the dining room and he's sitting with a sizeable pile of white powder on a dinner plate. Shocked...I said ahh you were driving a 100 on the freeway and you had THIS stuff in your bag? Had no clue, this could have been waiting for him at the condo, never found out. He was a lunatic and relished it; eventually parted ways and it's a toss up whether one of us despises the other more. On a scale of 1 to 10 with the latter being most hated that's how I rank the POS today as I did 30 years ago.

Wasn't too hard for me to make the choice not to be a druggie or dopehead in high school.
I just made note of the behaviors and actions of those who were.
Sealed the deal pretty well for me.
I don't mean to sound smug or judgemental, but it honestly was that simple a decision.

Acetaminophen is bad for your liver and ibuprofen is bad for your kidneys. Can't win.

For most older adults, the safest oral OTC painkiller for daily or frequent use is acetaminophen (brand name Tylenol), provided you are careful to not exceed a total dose of 3,000mg per day.

I'm going to get some gummies! LOL

CBD?

Yes, CBD I should try some.
I got a drop bottle of this stuff a few years ago; tasted foul but used some of it infrequently. No idea if it helped, though suppose you have to use it for a while. My daughter says she got some that has helped her with sleeping. Gather there are variations of the stuff...she's getting me the gummies that purport to help with aches/pains...vee vill see..

Send me a PM when you test them if you can remember. (they have drugs to help that now too) LOL

Think I’ve developed the memory of a dog the older I get. Such as today…tracing down a no blade down on my old plow. Then narrowed it to a bad valve and the funky harness on it I had to take apart again not remembering how the F I did it. Had the unit all apart last year rebuilding it and today damned if I could remember the stuff I did. SO – yeah hope I will remember to let ya know.

In my experience, CBD is a popular....fad. Zero benefit for me.

I was going to hit the big red X, but I hate those
when I get one.
I suffer very high levels of pain due to
an accident I had 50 years ago. I don't care
for the way opiates make me feel. Detached
from reality. Surgery is not possible and though
the pain sometimes is excruciating, I found
that just from being immobile, the pain would
subside. Usually after about 3 days.

Picked up a bottle and might have well poured in on the ground, nothing at all. Said a few drops under the tongue, nothing so I upped the dose to 4-5 doses, still nothing so I threw back a big swig, nothing again, done with that baby ****.

Tried CBD oil once. Drops sublingual - didn’t get a thing for them. Not sure that I get the hype. Also tried a chocolate bar. Same thing did nothing at all for me - so then instead of one piece I ate 3. The only affect it had was I suddenly felt very stressed out and odd feelings in my chest. Didn’t like it and that’s probably it for me with that stuff. Don’t get the appeal.
