Axle flange gasket different scenario

I’ve read numerous posts about the gasket but not one matching my senario. Just received a new housing/ 8.75 rearend from Dr Diff. It has the new green sealed bearings installed on the axles. Does the supplied gasket go b/w the housing and brake back plate or b/w the brake back plate and axle flange? Only one supplied per side. Should I use rtv between which ever surface doesn’t get the gasket? Thank you

Green bearings have the o-ring seal, but I put the inner axle seal in as well.

That’s what I was thinking as well, but the white foam gasket wasn’t included. Didn’t know if any of those were needed or not since it has the green bearings. The inner seal is installed also.

I just ordered axles, I find it odd that it does not come with the foam, as the foam usually gets ruined when one pulls the axle.

I just ordered a set. That’s why I was wondering if they are even needed with the inner seals and green bearings. Won’t hurt to use them. And the black gaskets sent are just the felt material without the raised ring. I’m guessing the new style bearings changed thoughts on what’s exactly needed as far as gaskets now

The gasket you speak of might be the foam gasket. Mine from Cass was gray. The steel gasket goes on first.

Using the steel gasket behind the backing plate.

Using the compressed foam gasket supplied by Dr. Diff. It's used as a spacer for the thickness of the snap ring on the Green bearing.

A little grease.

That’s what I was thinking as well, but the white foam gasket wasn’t included. Didn’t know if any of those were needed or not since it has the green bearings. The inner seal is installed also.

Concerning the white foam gasket, I remember reading that folks made there own using the sheets of thin white foam packing material in USPS or UPS boxes.

Beautiful setup.. but that is not the proper tool for installing seals... i keep an assortment of seal installers in sizes from 1/4" to 1 3/4"

BTW.. to the OP... if you haven't knocked the seals in yet... i pack the back (where the spring is) with grease so the spring doesn't go PEETWANG and pop off the seal.. learned that after i ruined a seal and had to wait for a new one to show up...

Mine goes up to 1-59/64" at the moment. Misplaced my 2" or its on loan somewhere

The other set I have works well for the blind holes like in the axle tube. They won't let you drive the seal too deep.
