B1 BS heads

There is a guy on this forum , but not very often, IQ52 he's a professional engine builder LaRoy Engine from Challis Idaho & a very good professional head porter, he may be able to steer you in the proper direction... I know you need special head stud, rockers, longer push-rods, stock exhaust port location "I think" & also you can also get them in CNC Ported Versions STS B1-BS... Supposedly they/Brodix claims 90-120 HP over the competiters cast iron heads{maybe refering to MP Stage 5 ? & "I would assume non-ported versions" with smaller 2.14"/1.81" valves & 88cc chambers}, I don't know far a fact though... what are you building ?? what is the intended usage ??, I think they are also for 400-480+ Cubic Inchs, w/13:1 compression, roller valve train/camshafts, 4000-7500rpm range, 230cc intake volume, w/65cc comb. chamber, 2.20"int. & 1.81 ext. valves, B1-BS 295/233cfm flow@ 0.700"lift {non-ported versions}... w/80cc comb. chambers, 243cc intake volume, 348/279cfm flow @ 0.700" w/STS B1-BS {CNC fully ported version}... I used B1's many moons ago, I don't think they are even close to the old B1 head, I thought about the B1-BS at one time also, went a different route... This is all from my personal notes, so I'm sorry, if I am wrong on the #'s somewhere... Man it's so nice to have so many choices now... Good luck & Happy Moparing

The BS heads (bracket sportsman) uses all factory bolt on stuff (except the head studs I believe) and the TS heads (totally serious) uses -different pistons-rockers-pushrods-head studs-intake-headers....pretty sure the BS is a bolt on deal & go...I would love to have a pair of BS heads for my R/T....have a friend who runs them on his 68 charger he runs mid 8's..all throttle no bottle....car is called Tims Toy....they seem to work well if you ask me.. so good luck with your search...

Found this info on another forum:

1. Small combustion chambers (65 cc, IIRC) push the CR up too high for a lot of street/strip applications.

2. Require extra intake rocker offset than other "standard replacement" type heads --> extra cost.

3. Raised exhaust ports can require different headers for RB block applications --> extra cost.

4. OOTB (Out Of The Box) flow #s aren't any better than less expensive heads. You've got to put more $$$ into them to really show their potential.

In short, they're not the best "bang for the buck" choice, given the alternatives available today.

Yep, I came to that conclusion as well. What real choice is there for a 500ci RB? Indy? I'm not too crazy about the external oil lines.

Are we talking, Bolt on ??, with mostly stock type valve train & no expensive special High dollar parts, the Indy EZ or the Eddy RPM, the RPM's being the best bang for the buck of the American made bolt-on heads, either EZ or RPM would be my 1st choices, or then the Stealth would be my next alternative choice, then maybe one of Mopar Performance Stage heads or go to a "Max Wedge" Port Configuration, but then you will need a Max Wedge intake manifold... The Eddy Victors will make more power & flow considerably better, 70cc more intake & 30cc more exhaust volumes "in stock form", they have raised intake ports, raised exhaust ports {exhaust manifold considerations}, but also requires, Offset rockers, special length push rods, special head bolts or studs, matched springs, retainers, seals & locks {any head should have springs & components matched to your camshaft}, longer/larger valves, small closed combustion chambers also, but a much better HP/TQ capable head... Good luck
