I agree Greg who does a 318 in a charger or rebuilds one. Im still in contact of the original owners daughter and send pics all the time. I promised she would see it when its done. This charger is just for cruising thats why Im sticking with the 318.If the crack is down low in the cooling jacket and can be somehow prevented from spreading, could you use concrete ?
Racers use "Hard Blok" to stiffen the cylinder walls in race engines, could this be done in a smaller scale to save the block?
Another thing, and I mean No offense...
Numbers matching and 318 engine are not compatible terms. Nobody in the hobby really places much value on an original 318 engine when even a stock non original 360 or 383 is such a step up in performance.
This is a setback but also an opportunity to build more power with similar reliability.
I rebuilt the original 383 in Jigsaw despite having 3 440 engines here to use. I regret it because it costs the same to build the bigger engine but you're left with less power for the same money.
Ok order it for me and I will do it.Post #459

Talked to the engine shop and they were surprised about the crack in the block. He said bring it in, said they always check the block before working on them. This is were I am tonight. Tomorrow I will finish.

They said it can be fixed and then the will pressure test it. Im thinking a couple weeks.Dave, any updates from the engine shop? Hoping for some good news;
yes Greg it is an XH model,no pads.That looks Charcoal. That is the color that I went with on my car. I think it looks nice on a red car.
Is that car an XH model? The XH is the only 1970 Charger that does not have the upper pads on the doors and inner quarters.

I know, everything inside of the weatherstrip is supposed to be painted black on mine to be correct but I liked the red there.
