I decided to load up the bikes and hit a motorcross track with my boy before the weather shifted and boy was that a blast!! He's been saying he's ready and that he wants to race so no better way to humble him than put him on a track, he's been humbled.
Me on the other hand.. damn do I want to race again! After getting the track dialed in I obliterated my competition (Vet class), I could feel everything coming back.. it was an absolute blast!

That's great. I remember the moto days with my son. Bought him his first bike when he was 7. Rode together till he left for college. Where did the time go? :)

I love MotoCross, sold my CR 250 five years ago and thinking of buying another. maybe when my boys are old enough.

I raced up till I was 55. I would tell my grandson, first 2 laps I’m gonna ride hard then the rest of the race is going to be for fun. That was always fun. Prove I was still fast and that I owned the gate. My son was pretty dam fast, I loved chasing and pushing him. I made both of us faster
My son quit riding and every year after he quit I ended up riding less. I have a lot of play bikes for the grand kids and I to ride and my grand daughter says she wants to ride next summer. I can’t wait.

sounds like fun
hope he sticks with it
be a fun father & son deal too

let him shine now, teach him, show him the ropes
schooling him while you have some fun too
by example

practice practice practice, you'll or he'll figure out
whether 'he has it or not'

good luck, try & keep the rubber side down
we don't heal so fast as we get older
