Backing Plate Seal

What are you guys using to replace the foam seal that is on the front backing plates for drum brakes? Do you just jam foam in there and trim it out or?

I went to Hobby Lobby and bought some white felt and cut some circles out and glued them into place.
it's just a dust seal and works fine.

Using the thin sheets of foam that cushion items traveling through the USPS, UPS, etc. packages is what I heard folks use. I have some saved for that particular purpose.
