Bad News. US Sullivans ship

Said started to sink in 2018 crack in the hull

hope they get it handled & the quicker the better

Piece of History
Destroyer it served began in 1943 during WWII, Pacific Theater
(maybe even) Korea & (maybe even) VietNam too, I'd assume
before being decommissioned/Mothballed, in 1965
& then 1977 to Buffalo, Erie Naval Park

...and that's why they don't let family members serve in the same unit.

IIRC three of the brothers survived the sinking but sharks got many survivors.

Anyone been to this Naval Center? Do they allow you to go inside the ships ( when they are not sinking? Might put this on my bucket list..

The five Sullivan brothers, and 682 other crew members, were killed in action as a result of the sinking of Light Cruiser USS Juneau. She was torpedoed on 13 November 1942 at the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal, with only 10 survivors rescued after 8 days in the water.
I'll have to find the show I saw, but I remember witmesses saying they saw at least two or three of the brothers in the water. This was like the sinking of the USS Indianapolis, a lot survived, but exposure and the sharks got a lot of them.

IIRC the Sullivan brother incident was also the reason behind "Saving Private Ryan".
