I'm finally getting the motor pulled this weekend on my 72 charger se. I already bought the replacement floor pans and sheet metal.
What is the best order in which to do body work and paint?
My current plan is do the exterior metal work then strip the exterior and sparay it with epoxy primer. Then cut out the floor pans and replace them and prep the interior before spraying with epoxy primer. Then sand the the primer overlap and move into blocking and sanding before spraying with a regular primer and then color.

The way we do it is to get all the metal work done and gaps set. Then epoxy prime then high build prime. Block with 120,prime then 180 prime then 220, prime then 400. We also tape the body lines to get them straight as a pin. Then you are ready for color. Between all steps some filler will be used when you find the high and low spots. Takes time and lots of sanding but worth it. Been using the Summit brand DTM epoxy and 2K urathane primers with nice results and cheaper too. The DTM is a bitch to sand, hard as a rock. Your plan sounds good even to protect the panels for corrosion before doing the floor pans if its going to be some time working on it. Good Luck and post a build thread. If you ever get down to Eugene stop by the shop for a tour and a few pops.

Thanks for the information. The specifics are handy and conveniently I bought the summit dtm epoxy earlier this year before I realized what I was getting myself into.

I'm old school and in my home garage. but I'll work on body metal in sections and prime with a high build lacquer primer or etch ( I've been using Speedokote lately). Main reason is time and money. Then when it looks good seal with epoxy or sealer then paint. I only put filler on bare clean metal then seal with epoxy. Here is a good article by Reed Overson: http://www.roadsters.com/filler/.
