Hey guys,

Need to freshen up my "Turtle shell" and am curious what Plastic paint you have used with a great level of success, what level of gloss you would recommend, etc.? Any help much appreciated. Mine is bit rougher than the one in the picture but grain is good, etc. just faded, dirty and discolored in some areas.

Thank you all and again!

Jeff

Vht high heat paint is good. You can get a gloss or flat paint.

I have had great luck with SEM products. I usually use their plastic adhesion promoter first and then trim black.

I have used Krylon Satin Black on model car plastic with good results.

I like SEM with Bulldog adhesion promoter.
Not sure what or where the "Turtle Shell" is but I've also had good luck with Herb's interior paint on hard plastic with adhesion promoter. Premixed factory interior colors.

Also like the other gents mentioned, spray it with adhesion promotor first. That way the paint you use will actually bond/stick. Of course scuff it up prior to all to give the coatings a tooth to bite in with.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. Anybody have any results to share? Also, the turtle Shell as its called is in the picture above. It is actually the three speed console in 1962 for a T-85 3 speed car. Yes, they spared no expense back then! LOL.

So it's an interior part? If so, go with Herb's. Herb's on the dash pads below. Will use it on my hard plastic parts as well. Two different colors on the dash and pads by design. Subtle but i like the contrast.
