Greetings! I did my first oil change on a big block Mopar last night. I looked up the recommended filter for my car and came up with the WIX 51515. After draining the oil I removed the old filter, put a little oil on the new filter gasket, and tried to install it. Note: I didn't fill it with oil as I had always done on every other vehicles I have ever owned because the filter is installed vertically. New filter will not work as it is too long and hits the power steering belt. Is this common? Is it possible to have a recommended filter for a power steering car as opposed to a non power steer? I am assuming not and it's just trial and error to find what fits best for the situation.
Lessen for me was to look at the number on the existing filter, WIX 51068, and just get that :D I ordered the 51068 today.

My old car was a small block with lines to remote spin on filters. Very easy to change filters with no issues. Plus the red, white and blue Mopar filters looked cool on there.

Sometimes using a longer or shorter P/S belt will move its trajectory away from the filter. The Wix 51515 is the most common filter, but not the only one, as has been said.

There’s a short filter available, I forget the number tho. O’Reillys sells Wix filters, they can look up the number for the short filter.

The 51515 is the typical full length full size filter....but there are at least four shorter, and one smaller diameter filters available, along with a truck one that's about twice as long.
51068 should solve your problem.
